Testimonials

In August of 2011 we began searching for a company to build a bar for our new wine bar and bottle shop “Taste on 23rd “. This was an important decision for us as the bar was to be the centerpiece of our space so we really wanted something elegant to match up well with our 1880’s space. Since we have no room for refrigeration the bar also had to be designed around the equipment to be placed under it.

A friend directed me to meet with Hans Dankers. I stopped in his shop and was immediately impressed with his projects that were underway. We agreed to select Western Walnut as the wood and he began the design process. He was so detail oriented and his ideas so thoughtful that we quickly agreed that the main bar, stand up bars, table tops, and cabinetry were all to be made of the same wood. It was a big job and he was diligent in its undertaking.

Hans quickly became a trusted advisor in detailing out the space including matching original baseboards (he has special equipment for it in his well-appointed shop), adding crown molding and additional trim throughout the space. He provided direction for the tables, chairs, and cabinetry we use to stock the wines. In short, we simply could not have accomplished our goals without Hans. He comes with our highest recommendation for any project where a “master craftsman” is needed. Should you want to see his creations, stop by Taste on 23rd at the corner of NW 23rd and NW Johnson in Portland Or.

Customers have raved about the work he has done. Just yesterday, a producer stopped in to request the availability of the space to shoot a commercial. People stare at his work, lightly running their hands over it and admiring the finish on the planked walnut tops. His work has truly become what we envisioned as the centerpiece of our business.
